Long time away…

14 Jun

To say its been a while is a bit of an understatement to say the least!!! To be honest, life has just hit pretty hard between my marriage almost ending, a back injury and a roll over accident things have been as you can guess pretty hectic. I am happy to say my marriage is in tact, my back is healing and the accident is something I am moving past! Unfortunately I did what I usually do in times of stress – I withdrew and didn’t do much that brought me joy. About 2 weeks ago I was over at a friends house where my daughter takes piano and I ended up helping making some foam monkey “swaps” for their son’s cub scout troop. Not quite my idea of a fun and satisfying craft but it reminded me how much I miss my creative outlets. Long story short, this week I went into the garage and did some looking around – I really have so many great things just waiting to be all beautified and I am going to get back to doing just that.

*IF* I even still  have any readers please know that I hope to have a few projects done this weekend so posts will get a bit more regular starting next week!

I will leave you with a few photos of our wreck….

At the wreck site

At the wrecking yard the day after (I think it looks worse in this photo than it did upside down)

My 12 year old daughter and I were super lucky to get out with minor injuries – God was in the car with us that day, there is no doubt in my head!!

Love Always!

If its not one things its another..

The last 2 weeks have been a bit crazy but somehow I have come out ontop of it all!

I just recently finished a few projects and even got them listed in my Etsy Shop. YAY!

Thought I would share a few of the before/after photos below:

Upcycled Jewelry Box: $25

Jewlery box before     Jewlery box after 3

I lightened the box up with a creamy bright yellow – I think it really makes the retro orange lining pop!

Upcycled Fan Blades: $20 set of 2

fan blades before          Hope Love after

These fan blades are some of my favorite things to make! They are great to organize jewelry, scarves, hats, or just to display as is.

Glossy Red Bamboo Style Candle Holders: $15 for set of 2

Bamboo candles before         Bamboo candles after 2

Before these candle holders were a dingy dirty yellow but now they are bold, sleek and glossy red!

Upcycled/Repurposed Pant Hanger Picture Hangers: $25 for set of 4

Pant hangers before    Pant hangers after

This out of date pant hangers were brought back to life with a spash of color and a bit of distressing. Now they can adorn your walls and display your fav pictures

(Set of 4 – yellow 9”, green 9”, gray 9” & silver 10”)

Kids Chairs (not yet listed on Etsy): $25 each or $40 for the set

Childs chair before Childs chair after childs chair after detail

I think these turned out great! Added some silver and gray numbers and finished off with a deep blue.

Flamingo Planter – Lucille (not yet listed on Etsy): $50

Lucielle before       Lucielle after

Isn’t Lucille beautiful? I added some pink and then distressed and sealed her to bring out some of the rusting beauty. LOVE her.

Me + Husband + Curb-diving = Romance

5 Apr

Does that equation work for anyone else? I NEVER imagined curb-diving would be my idea of a great night but it is now LOL

Monday my husband came home from Bible study and told me to get shoes on so we could go out. I asked where we were going and he said we could drive around and see what was on the curb to see if there is anything good to redo. WHAT?!?! Yes, ladies *I* am a lucky woman!! So, we grabbed his phone (our flashlight), folded up the back seats in the swagger wagon and headed out. We found a few treasures I hope to redo in the next week or 2 – check out some of our finds below (he even took the pictures for me):

Frame: A bit beat up but nothing a coat of paint and glaze cant fix… I am thinking BRIGHT

Table Legs: These were pretty fiercely amputated so they are a bit mangled – that doesn’t turn me away…  I see some great tall candle holders.

Stool sans cushion: I think this was a cushion but I was thinking maybe a great coffee table? Add some color and some glass ontop and I believe we would have a winner!

Vacuum: Not sure what the vision is yet but hubby thought it had a cool look. Checked it out online apparently it’s a nice line of vacuum but I am still mulling over some ideas – even *I* am excited to see what I do with it!

???: Seriously, I have NO clue what this is… can anyone else shed some light? My best guess is a stand of some sort or a very uncomfortable footstool? The back is solid too but its hollow inside. I am thinking kids room, vinyl, paint and a lil magic!

Found any great curb side treasures lately? I would love to hear!! Any input on my finds – ideas or thoughts? I would love to hear from ya!

There were a few things we passed up that on second thought I wish we had grabbed but not much I can do about that now. What’s your fav curb side find?

I will admit it I have a slight obsession with printables esp the motivational and cutsey ones out there!! I actually envision a wall in my room covered with colorful, framed, cutsey printables – makes me happy! So, I have read a few tutorials trying to figure out how to make my own and after much playing around I finally have my first made!

Tell me what you think I would love to hear – here it is below in 8×10 size:

Pretty pretty desk

3 Jan

Yup its been a while!! Life has officially “happened” and taken my crafting to a full on stop but rest assured I found some energy and not only have I finished something but I even have a few other projects in the works!!

So like I said life “happened” and looks like a move may be in my near future! For people like me who have a large hoarder pile selection of projects waiting “to do” in the garage that means some have to go away.

Started with this chair which was found curb side by my sister a bit beat up and stained but in good condition and this $5 desk scored at a local thrift store – covered in fabric and some bad paint but overall good condition.

Before Chair                  Before Desk

Here is what I ended with – def made one 6 year old VERY happy!

After set

I used a reverse stencil on the table top to add her name and a crown. I also did some extensive sanding I figured the shabby chic look really tied the 2 pieces together. For the cushion fabric I actually used an old dress found at a thrift store for 25 cents…. the best part? This whole project came in totaling less than $15 – CANT BEAT THAT!

Check out some detail shots below:

Hope you enjoyed the project!!
